Porsche 911 Carrera S laps the Nürburgring in 7 min 38 seconds (w/VIDEO)
The performance of hyper cars around the Nürburgring, can sometimes be so overwhelming that we lose sight of what's possible with cars which are considerably more affordable.
Recently, Porsche's £650,000+ prototype 918 Spyder set a lap time of 7 minutes 14 seconds around the 12.9 mile Nordschleife, and although an awesomely quick time, it was propelled by a 784bhp hybrid powerplant and the optional “Weissach†performance package.

Is DRB-Hicom Fiddling While Lotus Burns..?
For any business to function it needs to produce a product or service, sell it to customers, develop new offerings and promote them in order to generate demand. It also needs working capital to pay its suppliers, develop its staff and motivate all involved in its organisation to outperform its competitors. Lotus appears to be doing none of these, and to all intents and purposes is like a patient 'surviving' on life support - not 'living' - because that would involve actually getting up and doing something, but surviving - as in artificially being kept alive.

The Twelve Most Valuable Automotive Brands of 2012
Earlier this week, Interbrand, one of the world’s largest branding consultancies, published its 2012 review of 'Top 100 Brands'. It makes interesting reading, not least because this is the first time Facebook joins the list following its controversial IPO in May.
But of course we're interested in the Automotive brands and what it tells us about sector's recovery, following the unprecedented slump in 2009/10.

Mazda3 MPS gains more visual appeal
There's little doubt about the 256bhp Mazda3 MPS' main appeal in a sector awash with super-hatches. At £23,995 the MPS scores well in the value-for-money stakes against the £23,495 246bhp Ford Focus ST - itself something of a bargain, the £26,995 276bhp Vauxhall Astra GTC VXR and the £25,560 207bhp Volkswagen Golf GTI.

Jaguar kicks off promotional activities for the F-TYPE (w/VIDEOS)
Last week American singer songwriter Lana Del Rey performed her new track, 'Burning Desire', to an audience of VIP's in the gardens of the 18th century Musée Rodin in Paris. It marked the beginning of a global programme to promote Jaguar's new F-TYPE, the company's first two-seater sports car since the iconic E-type was launched more than 50 years ago.
