Tom Cruise, producer and star of Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, which opens on December 21, took a break from post-production work to accept an invitation to test drive the 850 bhp Red Bull Racing Formula One car around Southern California's 2.5-mile Willow Springs circuit.

Derek Warwick takes over from Damon Hill as President of the BRDC
Following today’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) has announced that Derek Warwick has been elected as BRDC President. Warwick, whose motor racing career includes 11 seasons and 147 starts in Formula One, wins in the prestigious Le Mans 24 hours race and the World Sportscar Championship, and three seasons in the British Touring Car Championship, has taken over the role from Damon Hill OBE.

Gymkhana FOUR coming next week (w/ New Video)
You may not be a fan of Ken Block's Gymkhana videos, but there's no doubting their popularity, with Gymkhana 3 having now clocked up more than 36 million views on YouTube and becoming the most watched automotive video of all time. Well Gymkhana FOUR completed filming last week and will be hitting the interweb next Tuesday 16th August.

Gulf 12 Hours gears up for Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi
The inaugural Gulf 12 Hours endurance race takes place this winter at Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi, arguably the most glamorous race track in the world. The event will end at night under the sparkling lights and magical atmosphere that made the final Grand Prix of the 2009 and 2010 Formula 1 seasons so unique.

Honda Racing produces 4-part BTCC documentary (w/VIDEOS)
Honda Racing Team has produced four short documentary films on its participation in the 2011 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. Each film will focus on what drives the Honda Racing Team to achieve success in one of Britain's biggest and most exciting race series. The first documentary, produced by leading short film label, Future Shorts, will be released in late August, ahead of Rounds 19-21 of the BTCC at Knockhill.

Four-part Feature Film: Audi Sport triumphant at the Spa 24 Hours
I'm a great believer in the power of online video, for telling a story but also in reaching an audience beyond that which the written word can achieve. Consider how moving pictures can transcend the language barrier - even without subtitles, but we've also been observing the levels of engagement on SkiddPlayer of less-obvious viewers, such as women and 50-70 year olds.

Why the BBC and Sky joint F1 deal will open the way for augmented broadcasting
After weeks of rumour that the BBC would be dropping its coverage of F1 in a bid to save costs, a seven-year deal was announced this morning which will see both the BBC and Sky providing coverage across their broadcast and digital properties.
“With this new deal not only have we delivered significant savings but we have also ensured that through our live and extended highlights coverage all the action continues to be available to licence-fee payers,” said the BBC’s Head of Sport, Barbara Slater.
