Special Edition Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse makes an appearance at the Pebble Beach Quail Gathering

For such a bespoke car where customers are allowed to specify virtually every detail, it seems a little trite to release a ‘special edition’ – after all you’re unlikely to see a car park full of Veyrons and need something ‘special’ to stand out from the crowd.

But this weekend’s events at Pebble Beach provide the perfect excuse for a one-off car that pays tribute to the Grand Prix winning 1928 Bugatti Type 37A that is now owned by Jay Leno.

The Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse SE features a Bianco white hue for the car’s upper body, including air scoops and roof panel, with a New Light Blue colour applied to the side skirts, radiator grill surround, front spoiler and rear diffuser.

To complement its classic color scheme, Bugatti has trimmed the interior with light-brown Cognac leather and a Light Blue trim to match the exterior. The inner surfaces of the wheels and underside of the rear wing receive the same Light Blue colour treatment, making this a truly unique Grand Sport Vitesse, until one presumes another customer decides to specify their own car in a similar way.

Powered by the now familiar 7.9-litre W16 engine producing 1,184bhp and 1,106 lb-ft of torque, the Grand Sport Vitesse is capable of 255mph and covers the 0-62mph sprint in 2.6 seconds.

The car on show at this weekend’s Pebble Beach Quail Gathering has already been sold to a customer, at a price of €1.74m.
