This original intent of this series was to feature the young stars of motor racing who not only delivered headline performances in 2021 but were set to continue their shine into 2022. Only with decades of winning behind him, Tim Harvey is not so much ‘silver’ but rather, pure gold.

Nowhere was this more obvious than at the Donington Historic Festival where he partnered Roger Wills in the 1958 ex-Bruce McLaren Lotus XV. His all-conquering masterclass in speed and precision was breathtaking; his placement of the car as he lapped and scythed through the swarm of E-Types, Cobras and Elans majestic.

The challenges of historic racing demand the best from the best: Behind the wheel of this remarkable sports racer, Tim Harvey didn’t only lead the way but was very simply in a class of his own.

The battle for Season 29 British GT honours produced a spectacle of fierce and closely fought contests, led mostly by the roaring V10 of the Lamborghini Huracans. In any ordinary year, few would bet against the brilliance of Phil Keen or the ever more consummate talent of reigning champion Sandy Mitchell, only this wasn't an ordinary year.

Winning runs in Dennis Lind's family. His uncle is Corvette Le Mans legend Jan Magnussen: his cousin Kevin is no slouch either. But then look at the Dane's personal pedigree and straight away, you can see that he's as quick in a GT3 brute as he was in single seaters. 2021 was his first full season in British GT, and maybe his last too, but the speed, determination and race craft he brought to the grid saw him out-pace and frankly out-class some of the finest endurance racers of this generation.

Launching into the New Year, we're looking back at the drivers who look set to continue to make headlines this year too.

Gus Burton only stepped-up from the junior categories in 2020 and immediately showed his pace by taking five wins and 11 podiums in Ginetta GT4 Supercup. For 2021, he partnered with Supercup champion Will Burns for a British GT campaign with Century Motorsport where he and Burns took command of the GT4 class, winning three times and scoring four podiums on the way to securing the title.

We see a lot of talented youngsters in GT4 but few with the maturity to not only match their peers but decisively outrace them. Nobody can play-down Burns' contribution to the effort, but Burton didn't just take a supporting role, he absolutely stole the show

When Sam Neary commenced his British GT career (alongside his father Richard in the Team ABBA Mercedes-AMG GT3), he'd only recently marked his 18th birthday, and yet already, the pair were race winners in the previous season's GT Cup

Fast forward to 2021 and the Nearys, now led by Sam, are not only race winners in British GT too, but this year's GT Cup Champions. Nevertheless, it's the results in British GT that truly stand out; this remarkable family-run team pitching themselves against some of the finest squads and pro-drivers on the GT tour, and looking every bit their equal

We often put our focus on the progression and promise of young GT4 drivers, simply because GT3 tends to be populated by seasoned professionals backed by some of the world's leading sports car factories. Sam Neary is more than just a rare exception, he's undoubtedly 'the real deal'

Partnered by Darren Turner and Darren Burke, not only did the Newbridge Motorsport man win the Pro-Am class, he showed exceptional pace to race to two overall GT4 victories against formidable all-Silver-graded pairings
