Jamie Day has been announced by Aston Martin Racing as the standout graduate of its 2024 Driver Academy programme.

Day, 19, has recently completed his third season of racing with Aston Martin machinery, last year winning British GT’s GT4 Silver Drivers Championship with teammate Mikey Porter. He now finds himself catapulted into a supported GT3 career, starting straight away with his home race at this weekend’s Dubai 24 Hours, and then the possibility of a seat later in the month with the recently announced Volante Rosso entry at the Bathurst 12-Hour.

Day started his Aston Martin journey in 2022 with R-Racing in British GT, becoming the championship’s youngest-ever class winner and pole-sitter. He then moved to the GT4 European Series for 2023 before enjoying a dual campaign last year with Racing Spirit of Léman in Europe, and Forsetti Motorsport in British GT.

Founded in 2014, the Aston Martin Driver Academy is designed to invest in and fast-track talent from within the marque’s partner team network. The 2024 programme attracted a record 32 entries from 13 countries, and spanned not only major domestic series’ but also drivers from international competitions such as FIA WEC, GT World Challenge, and the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. Speaking about Day’s success, Adam Carter, Aston Martin Head of Endurance Motorsport, said: “We are delighted for Jamie to have graduated from the AMR Academy. Since he began racing Vantage back in 2022, he has consistently shown a high level of talent and matched it with outstanding results.

“Jamie has shown all the qualities required to be a successful GT racer and we are pleased to see that he will continue his upwards trajectory in Aston Martin machinery in 2025.”

The following exclusive images were captured by Transmission’s team during Day’s British GT GT4 career. Let’s hope we see him back but in a GT3 car soon.
