Porsche puts 918 Spyder Hybrid on sale

The production version of the 918 Spyder hybrid - first seen in concept form at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show - went on sale from this week. The two-seater roadster, inspired by the design of the Carrera GT and the 917, is built around a carbonfibre-reinforced plastic monococque structure and has manually-removable roof panels which can be stored in the front luggage compartment.

In a sense we already know that it will be a fully-manufactured product based on the gorgeous 918 Spyder Concept, the mid-engine hybrid concept sports car first revealed by Porsche at Geneva last March.
