Árón Taylor-Smith makes one last valiant effort to preserve his lead at Silverstone yesterday, but nothing was going to stop Ash Sutton from overturning the odds to earn a spectacular victory, having started the race in P23 just 24 minutes earlier.

It was a day filled with contrasts for the battling pair. For Sutton, this was his tenth win of the year, extending his lead at the top of the standings, and now leaving only 2022 champion Tom Ingram able to deny his hopes of joining Colin Turkington and Andy Rouse with a record-equalling four BTCC titles.

For Taylor-Smith, his second podium and third Independents' win in successive weekends gave cause for celebration, yet also saw him once again denied the chance to add to his sole outright win from Rockingham seven years ago.

Congratulations to Callum Voisin, now revealed as a finalist for the 2023 Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Young Driver Award.

Here he is in action at Brands Hatch just a few weeks ago, leading the way from pole position in the Rodin Carlin GB3 car to record his first win of the season and extend his lead at the top of the standings.

The Young Driver Award is undoubtedly one of the key stepping stones in promoting the careers of our top rising talent, and whilst the competition will be intense, the opportunities afforded to the winner are unrivalled. So to all four finalists (Callum Voisin, Taylor Barnard, Joseph Loake and Arvid Lindblad), we simply say this: "Good luck", and "preparation, preparation, preparation".

Stirling's Stewart Robb might already be well into his 70th year but that wasn't going to stop him from delivering a stunning display of racing with his TVR Tuscan at Oulton Park earlier today.

He led the first of the Bernie's V8's double-header until fuel starvation forced him into retirement. Then starting in P25 for Race 2, gained 13 places on the first lap alone, and carrying remarkable pace, worked his way into third, challenging for the lead, until a red flag for dropped oil stopped his charge and saw him relegated to 6th on count back.

TVR Tuscans have always enjoyed a great history here in Cheshire, and with the likes of Robb at the wheel, this is surely going to continue.
