BMW Motorsport claims a one-two finish at the NĂĽrburgring
BMW Motorsport claimed victory in today's season opening VLN race at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, finishing first and second overall. Jörg Müller, Augusto Farfus and Uwe Alzen drove the winning no.42 BMW M3 GT, whilst Dirk Müller, Dirk Werner and Andy Priaulx brought the no.43 car home second, 51 seconds behind its sister car after four hours of running.

BMW will launch more focused M3 Saloon at M Festival 2011
At a private M Division gathering in Munich today, BMW has revealed a bevy of limited edition models including the one-off M3 Pick-up (see previous story) and a very special M3 Saloon that is said to make use of some parts from the track-focused M3 GTS.

Mitsubishi reveals its Evo replacement – the 345bhp i-MiEVO all-electric car
Yesterday Mitsubishi used its Lancer Evolution Facebook page to tease a new concept for the Evo – called the AF-J. Posing the question, "The next Evo?", they promised to reveal the full car on Facebook at 15:00 GMT today.
Well the hour has come and gone and you see before you the Evo in all its majesty... Well it is April 1st, so don't worry, it might never happen.

Dr Kay Segler is replaced as boss of BMW M GmbH
We didn't see this one coming, and given the number of pranks revealed on this special day, we had to check it twice just to be sure. BMW announced this morning that Dr Kay Segler was being replaced as boss of BMW M by Dr. Friedrich Nitschke, who takes over the position from 1 May this year.

Autoglass pioneers ‘self-repairing’ glass… for phones
Autoglass® has today announced a scientific breakthrough by developing glass that repairs itself. Scientists at the company's headquarters in Bedford have been testing the technology on mobile and smartphones over the last 6 months and come up with a glass which when broken or cracked automatically fixes itself.

Goodwood follows red brick road at the 2011 Festival of Speed
Following the recent announcement that the 2011 Festival of Speed (1-3 July) will include the largest celebration of 100 years of the famous Indianapolis 500 race outside of the USA, Goodwood can today (1st April) confirm that it is commencing construction work on the challenging Festival track to cover the entire 1.16-mile hillclimb with one million bricks.

Land Rover introduces the self-levelling tax disc holder.. (w/VIDEO)
In a move that a Land Rover spokesperson describes as 'on a par' with other innovations such as Hill Descent Control (HDC), Active Cornering Enhancement (ACE) and its Stability Under Controlled Kinaesthetic Response System (SUCKRS), the company unveiled this morning a novel piece of technology in response to the recent change in tax disc legislation.
