BMW’s participation at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este has been pure Zagato-flavoured up until now, so it was time to change the record. And it looks like they’ve changed more than the flavour of its concept show car, which in 2013 has been designed in collaboration with Pininfarina.
Rather than the Z4-inspired Zagato Coupé and Roadster, the new Gran Lusso Coupé is a long wheelbase GT with a stretched bonnet, short overhangs and a set-back greenhouse blending into a smoothly sloping roofline.
The result of their debut cooperation will be revealed on 24th May, when the annual Concorso d’Eleganza gets underway on the shores of Lake Como, Italy.
The Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupé is powered by BMW’s 6.0-litre V12 engine and is said to encapsulate “the modern harmony between power and elegance”. On the inside it is said to “meld exclusivity, comfort and sportiness for a unique interior experience.”
For the time being, we’ve got a few closely cropped images and a sketch showing what looks to be a 2-door design based on the 6 Series Gran Coupé. All will be revealed next Friday.
