In just a few hours we’ll be able to pore over the details of BMW’s new M5 Concept, prior to its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show on 19th April. Pictures leaked out over the weekend, showed the undisguised car in the traditional BMW M concept-car paint finish, “Chrome Shadow”, after the car was revealed to the press at a private gathering in Munich last Friday.
The F10 M5 will be powered by a twin-turbocharged V8, replacing the outgoing car’s naturally aspirated V10, and whilst the forced-induction V8 is expected to produce at least 550bhp with more than 501lb ft of torque (117lb ft more than its predecessor), it is based on the same power plant currently fitted to both the X5 M and X6 M. As you can see from the images, the new M5 wears a characteristic M aerodynamic body kit, with it’s shapely rear valence and quad exhausts.
The cast black wheels with low profile tyres round off the M5’s subtle looks, but with a slightly more aggressive and confident presence that its E60 predecessor.
The wait is nearly over..
