Charles Morgan, grandson of the founder H.F.S. Morgan and the son of Peter Morgan, has today left the company that’s been at the centre of his very existence for more than five decades.

In a statement from Morgan Technologies Limited, the company said:

“Further to decisions taken in January of this year, Morgan Technologies is now in a position to announce that Charles Morgan is no longer part of the management team or Board of Directors of the company.”

UPDATE October 18 2013Statement from Charles Morgan.

Morgan was replaced as Managing Director of the company in March by operations director Steve Morris, who we featured in our ‘Nordkapp Challenge’ piece in May. The move was understood to be driven by differences in vision between Morgan and the company’s board of directors.

His role as an ambassador was understandably short-lived, and there is rumoured to be further changes afoot – perhaps involving outside investors.

Morgan tweeted this afternoon to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and let everyone know his new contact email address (charlesmorganuk@gmail.com).

He went on to share a quote which seems to point towards those who now lead the company, “Leadership is a privilege to better the lives of others. It is not an opportunity to satisfy personal greed.”

The company statement goes on to say:

“Over recent months, and in response to the growth in volumes, model range and overseas markets, the company structure has been strengthened across a number of different areas. This reflects the scale and complexity of an increasingly global business.”

“Whilst these are significant developments for the company, the Morgan family, Directors and management team look forward to sharing more news with the wider Morgan community in the near future.

“These changes will help cultivate an exciting future for Morgan which continues to reinforce the unique attributes of the brand.”

It’s a sad day for Morgan and the company which represented so much of his personal identity.

I interviewed him in 2008 together with Chris Harris and admired his passion for the cars, the people at Malvern and the details which make them so special.

Don’t expect him to go quietly though, there’s bulldog spirit in the water down in Malvern..
