The new Fisker Surf is the world’s first electric luxury/sports automobile for an active and eco-friendly lifestyle. Building on the success of the ground-breaking Karma Electric Vehicle, the Surf offers additional flexibility and load-carrying capability, along with a spirited new attitude all of its own.
Unlike less radical premieres at Frankfurt, you’ll note that the Surf is not a concept – Fisker Automotive will offer the Surf in all its markets around the world for the 2013 model year.
Fisker Surf combines performance, luxury, style, utility, and economy with an enduring concern for the sustainable use of resources and respect for the environment. The Surf is Fisker’s vision of a crossover between a sports car and an estate and shows how Fisker is expanding its Karma platform with additional models that yet again create a new market niche.
“The Surf is a first-of-its-kind eco-friendly lifestyle vehicle that offers space, performance and luxury design for people who live an active, environmentally conscious lifestyle and like to drive beautiful cars,” said Henrik Fisker, CEO/Executive Design Director, Fisker Automotive.
If you’re seeing something of Ferrari’s FF in the new Surf, that’s in no way accidental, a Fisker executive has already been quoted in saying, “It’ll be like the FF but with four doors and at one-third the price.” Perhaps it would be less than tactful to suggest it will be almost one-third of the FF’s performance..
Despite the increased glass-house and bodywork of the shooting-brake design, the Surf weighs just 30kg more than the Karma saloon, but the real bonus comes in terms of load-space, which grows from 201 litres to 821 litres.
