German tuner GeigerCars.de decided that its previous tuning package for the Ford GT just wasn’t fast enough. 701 bhp and 837 Nm of torque only managed to propel it from 0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 211 mph.
So they set to work on the car’s 5.4 litre V8 engine and have managed to find a further 80 ponies to achieve 790 bhp. That’s 240 bhp more than than the standard Ford GT. The supercharged V8 reaches maximum power at 6320 rpm and torque has also been increased to 863 Newton metres, which now peaks at 4600 revolutions.
The additional power was achieved by replacing the previous 3.3 litre compressor with a more powerful 4.0 litre compressor which develops 1.25 bar (the standard Ford GT uses a 2.3 litre compressor). Larger throttle valves and a sports filter were also installed to supply the eight cylinders with more fresh air, and the engine and gear cooling systems have also been upgraded.
The Ford GT chassis has been similarly upgraded, lowered by 60 mm with a K&W coilover suspension which is adjustable for bump and rebound. The car has been fitted with 9×20 inch wheels with 245/35 R20 Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tyres at the front and 11×21 inch wheels with 325/30 R21 tyres at the rear.
Geiger claims the HP 790 can now cover the 0-62 mph increment in 3.6 seconds which is 0.1 seconds slower than its predecessor, reaching 125 mph in 9.6 seconds and topping out at 224 mph. The HP 790 is fitted with two 110-millimetre sports exhaust tail pipes – an in house development – which we’re told provide a blood curdling roar as it climbs up through the revs.
Geiger have kindly provided a comparison table to demonstrate just how mental the performance of their HP 790 is compared with other well-known supercars.

I just hope someone will put Ford’s new 6.2 V8 in a Ford GT.
Roush, are you listening?
