It seems odd, nearly half way into 2013, to bring out a special edition model celebrating the success of F1 partner Red Bull Racing in 2012. But that’s what Renault has chosen to do – it’s the second year in a row that a Mégane R.S. will be available in the colours of Red Bull Racing.
Just 30 cars will be produced between mid-June and 30th September 2013 and available to customers in 26 countries.
If you’re thinking it looks like a Mégane Renaultsport 265 with some fancy paint, then you’re right, but it’s unusually subtle for a Renaultsport special edition and for that reason we expect it will prove popular (at least enough to sell all 30 cars).
To the standard car is added the exclusive Twilight Blue finish with Platinum Grey detailing (just like on Red Bull Racing’s Formula 1 identity), a monochrome laurel on the rear side windows (celebrating the team’s 2012 Constructors’ world title) and a host of Renaultsport options including Recaro seats, R-Link multimedia and TomTom Live navigation system, Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tyres (from the 265 Trophy), plus the latest Version 2.0 of the on-board R.S. Monitor.
The platinum grey detailing is applied to the F1 blade, door handles, door mirror housing and rear lip spoiler, while Red Bull Racing branding can be found on the numbered aluminium kickplates and carpet mats, and the headrests of the Recaro seats which are trimmed in a new leather/fabric upholstery.
The limited edition version is specified as per the 265 Cup, which means 19-inch black ‘Steev’ wheels with platinum-finished rims, stiffer springs and dampers, a thicker anti-roll bar, limited slip differential and grooved discs with Brembo callipers.
The Mégane Renaultsport Red Bull Racing RB8 will be priced from Euro 36,000 in France (a 16.5% increase over the standard R.S. 265), so on that basis, you should probably budget for around £29,000 here in the UK.

The video (above) starring actors Camille Chaudeurge and Anthony Dupray features the Infiniti Red Bull Racing RB7 demo car driven by the team’s reserve driver Antonio Felix Da Costa, and was produced by Driving Evo and creative agency Fondastudios.
On the cheesy-ness scale it’s an overly-ripe Roquefort with a side order of Stilton. The far-from-subtle message being that if you drive a Mégane Renaultsport RB8 you’ll be just like Seb.
Highlight of the video is when our hero (Monsieur Dupray) arrives in Monaco and hands a pair of Monaco GP Gala tickets to Mademoiselle Chaudeurge. She then says “You’re a champion”, to which he answers “No. She is” as he turns towards the Mégane..
