The McLaren P1 made its dynamic debut at last month’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, and Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1 driver Jenson Button was on hand to put it through its paces.
Deliveries commence during the next few months, so Button was given the enviable duty of showing customers and VIPs what to expect.
As you can see, he clearly liked the P1, and unlike the previous video with team mate Checo Perez we can actually hear what it sounds like under load.

“A lot of the experiences that we have been through in Formula 1 helped us build the McLaren P1,” said Button. “This is a thoroughbred race car for the road. It looks beautiful, it’s stunning…”
It certainly is stunning, and anyone who saw it tackle the hill at Goodwood will remember how effortlessly fast it looked.
One of the most impressive sights was watching it accelerate away from the Goodwood start-line – perhaps because of its immense traction or clever electronics, but it just launched forwards in a way that few cars, barring the Nissan GT-R have ever demonstrated so purely.
It was certainly one of the more innovative supercars to grace the event, but the overriding feeling was of its speed, which the video merely serves to reinforce.
