If you prefer your supercars to look smooth and curvaceous then Lamborghini’s Veneno Roadster is probably not for you, but then at 3.3 million Euros only the privileged few will be able to afford one – with just nine being built during its production in 2014.

Lamborghini’s 739bhp supercar recently paid a visit to the Italian naval aircraft carrier Nave Cavour, where it was formally unveiled on the flight deck of the 240 metre ship.

It was part of a VIP soiree in Abu Dhabi’s Mina Zayed port where Lamborghini President and CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, introduced the brand’s fastest and most exclusive model to date.

Weighing just 1,490kg, the Veneno Roadster can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 221 mph. It’s powered by an upgraded version of the Aventador’s 6.5-litre twelve-cylinder engine mated to the fast-shifting ISR transmission. The Veneno’s chassis features pushrod suspension with horizontal spring/damper units.

The all-wheel drive open racing prototype is built around a carbon-fibre based monocoque with CFRP (carbon fibre reinforced polymer) body panels and a cockpit clad almost entirely with woven carbon-fibre CarbonSkin.

“The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster is one of the world’s most exclusive cars with the most extraordinary performance,” said Winkelmann. “We are honoured that Lamborghini was chosen to represent the Italian car industry in the UAE.. Lamborghini has an extremely strong following in the region for its super sports cars, with the Middle East one of our largest markets in the world.”

The car shown in the pictures is painted in ‘Rosso Veneno’, although customers will be able to specify their cars to suit their personal preferences.

The event featured many special guests including former captain of the national Italian soccer team, Fabio Cannavaro, who was invited to sit in the Veneno Roadster.
