With just one month to go until its official launch at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, VŪHL Automotive has released a new teaser image of its ’05′ sports car.

The ’05′ is a road-legal lightweight supercar, along the lines of KTM’s X-Bow and has been developed by brothers, Iker and Guillermo Echeverria of the Mexican/American design agency Etxe.

The Echeverria brothers in turn, were University students of Daniel Mastretta, founder of Mastretta Cars, whom we interviewed in March. See the connection yet?

Guillermo Echeverria worked for Mastretta during the first phase of the MXT’s development, so while both cars are quite different (the MXT being more of a Lotus Exige competitor) the ’05’ has benefited from this grounding and is said to be quite sophisticated (for a new car maker’s very first car).

To underline this sophistication, VŪHL Automotive have now signed an OEM technical support arrangement with Michelin. Iker Echeverria, spoke about the deal: “We are so pleased to add Michelin to our inventory of supporting companies, and look forward to the results of our testing with a variety of the brand’s renowned tyres at their facilities in Europe and the U.S later this year.”

“We will take part in the supercar run as part of the ‘First Glance’ class at Goodwood, and look forward to appearing on the stand at the Michelin Supercar Paddock amongst many of our heroes from the world of high performance cars and motorsport.”

The VŪHL 05 features a carbon fibre body which will be fabricated in Canada with final assembly conducted by the advanced manufacturing concern, Adman Leku in Mexico City. Handling and dynamics have been optimised in the UK, with further testing and development taking place, with assistance from Michelin in the U.S. and Europe, later this year.
