Ewww… They made it worse.
The last one wasn’t pretty, but at least it didn’t have a flat, fat face. It looks bloated and almost like they let the clay model roll into a wall.

I was over at BMW last week and we talked about this new F10 5-series. My initital impression had been that it would look exactly like a 5 Gran Turismo, except with a saloon rather than hatchback rear-end, but I was told that the 5-series saloon has its own unique styling and is unlikely to be confused for a Gran Turismo.
I’m intrigued.
I’m a bit of a 7-series fan these days, after many years of disliking BMW’s top of the range model, not because BMW wined and dined us during its launch, but indirectly my impression of the 7-series is quite closely related to the ‘dining’ part of its launch.
Somehow BMW managed to park a 7-series in the middle of the dining hall, so we had plenty of time to study it. When you’re lucky enough to listen to the actual designer of a car and understand his or her reasons, it’s a real eye-opener, and from these cursory pictures of the F10 5-series I suspect there’s an interesting story to tell.
One thing that always puzzles me though is why BMW choose to photograph their cars painted silver. It never shows off their lines effectively, makes them look slab-sided and hides all the subtle features. If it looks this ‘bad’ in these pictures then I suspect it bodes really well for an M-sport model with large wheels.. or as Tim said, an M5!
