McLaren has announced a limited run of just ’50’ 12Cs and 12C Spiders to mark the 50th anniversary of the McLaren organisation.

The limited edition variants will feature a number of bespoke enhancements including a remodelled front bumper, the use of carbon fibre for the lower section of the colour-coded bumper framing the air intakes, a front floor made from race-derived carbon Kevlar and a special black McLaren F1-inspired heritage badge fitted on the front bonnet.

These and several other features were produced by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), and were previously only available to customers who commissioned a bespoke vehicle. The changes have been overseen by the McLaren Automotive design team led by Design Director, Frank Stephenson.

As standard, the 100 cars are fitted with McLaren’s carbon ceramic brake upgrade with 394mm x 36mm discs at the front and 380mm x 34mm at the rear. These sit behind bespoke McLaren 50 Ultra Lightweight wheels, measuring 19-inches at the front and 20-inches at the rear. Finished in Satin Black, they offer a combined weight saving of 2kg over the optional Super Lightweight wheels.

Inside the McLaren 50 12C models are upholstered with a full leather upgrade, while subtle branding to the carbon fibre sill panel and floor mats is complimented by an anniversary dedication plate on the driver’s door.

Available in one of three colour finishes – Carbon Black, Supernova Silver or heritage McLaren Orange – the McLaren 50 12C also sports carbon fibre turning vanes featuring the McLaren 50 logo.

As you’d expect of such a special model, there’s a price increase to reflect its uniqueness – £196,000 for the 12C and £215,500 for 12C Spider.

Each of the customer cars will be presented with a monogrammed black and silver car cover, limited edition key, carbon fibre presentation key box and a specially commissioned print signed by McLaren Automotive Design Director, Frank Stephenson.
