The theme for this year’s Festival of Speed is Porsche’s 911, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2013, but that won’t stop other marques playing a starring role during the event.

At today’s media day, Jaguar’s XFR-S made its global dynamic debut in the hands of 1988 Le Mans 24hr race winner Andy Wallace.

Mercedes were there with the SLS AMG GT – the first in the UK, which was joined by 1955 300 SLR “Uhlenhaut” Coupé driven by Jochen Mass.

The McLaren P1 will make its world dynamic debut during July’s event, joining 43 other cars taking part in the famed Supercar Run.

Even though the LFA has taken part in previous FoS Supercar Run, 2013 will mark the first year that Lexus will ‘officially’ play a part in Goodwood. On hand will be the GS saloon, new IS 300h in F Sport trim, LFA supercar and Nürburgring class winners, Gazoo Racing, fresh from their latest race campaign.

To celebrate half a century of McLaren racing, they’ll be bring along a number of championship-winning cars from Formula 1, Can-Am, Indy and Le Mans.

Of course, 2013 also marks the 20th anniversary of the Festival of Speed, so along with milestone celebrations for Porsche, McLaren and Lamborghini, Goodwood will also be going all-out to make 2013 the best there’s ever been.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed takes place between 11 and 14 July 2013.
