I’ve lost count of the number of BMW M3 ‘special editions’ released in the past 12 months. What do you think? Does it enhance the M3s reputation or make it seem like BMW are struggling to sell them?

The M3 Coupe Lime Rock Park Edition is a U.S. only model priced from $70,995 (£45,800) – a little over 13% more than a standard model M3 when fitted with the Competition Package. Accounting for that $8,300 premium is a special Fire Orange paint finish, a lightweight inconel-titanium exhaust, carbon fibre front and rear aerodynamic aids, and an Alcantara-covered, flat-bottomed steering wheel.

Each M3 Coupe Lime Rock Park Edition will also receive a numbered plaque on the centre console, a unique decal on the left-rear quarter window, and an owners certificate of authenticity.

Lime Rock Park racing circuit is located in north-western Connecticut and is one of America’s most recognized road racing venues. It is owned by Skip Barber and at 1.5 miles in length, it encompasses seven corners and many extreme elevation changes.

With just 200 cars due to be built this summer, deliveries will begin this September.
