Following the Insignia’s redesign earlier this month, Vauxhall have revealed a raft of design and chassis revisions for its range-topping VXR SuperSport.
The 320bhp VXR SuperSport will make its debut at next month’s Frankfurt IAA and is available as either a Hatch or Sports Tourer.
External changes include a re-styled front and rear with distinctive ‘saber-tooth’ detailing at the front and the tailpipe trim integrated into the rear valence.
Vauxhall have improved the SuperSport’s adaptive all-wheel-drive chassis, with around 60 per cent of its rear suspension being revised. The car’s front HiPerStruts – which prevent geometry changes during hard cornering – remain unchanged.
Ride and handling has been improved thanks to updates made to the software which governs the FlexRide adaptive damping and ESP systems. In addition they’ve made improvements to the car’s NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) behaviour by finely tuning the suspension mounting points.
Performance remains the same, with zero to 60mph being covered in 6.1 seconds (or 5.9 seconds for the Hatch) while the VXR SuperSport will achieve a top speed of 170mph.
Inside there’s an all-new instrument panel and central console design which houses an 8-inch touchscreen and incorporates optional Bluetooth-operated internet connectivity, 3D navigation and a DAB radio.
Pricing starts at £29,749 for the Hatch and £31,049 for the Sports Tourer, with order books being open now.
