First drives of the Mercedes SLS AMG are beginning to appear in the press following its recent launch, and whilst most reviews have been complimentary there have been some rumours emerging of tricky on-limit handling and a shortage of steering feel. But that’s not what this SLS AMG is all about though is it?

There has already been talk of a hotter Black-series version, a convertible and even an electrically powered SLS, but before we get carried away there’s still plenty to look at with the SLS AMG and Mercedes have produced a video of their own with driving duties performed by ex-DTM champion Bernd Schneider, just in case the hacks struggle to get to grips with their new 563 bhp supercar.

Meanwhile US tuner Gullwing America US have come up with an even more retro look for the SLS AMG, a little more 300 SL, a little less tasteful…

Comprising a body-kit made of aluminium and carbon fibre, re-profiled arches, 20″ wheels and plenty of alcantara and leather on the inside, the package is known as the “Panamericana”.

The SLS which was officially unveiled at the Frankfurt show in September is expected to go on sale in the UK from June 2010, the price? – a little over £150,000.
