Ahead of this weekend’s DTM curtain raiser, Audi has produced an iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad compatible app to keep their fans right up to date on its 2010 racing activities.

The app is available now in the App Store and we have to say that for a first go, it’s a very good effort.  Weighing in at just 3.4mb, it allows you to view the latest news, results, point standings, photos, sound bites, videos and more from Audi AG’s array of 2010 race programmes – DTM, Le Mans and GT3 customers.

Like the official F1 app, Audi's app is also iPad compatible

Whilst F1 and the Intercontinental Rally Challenge have their own apps, Audi Sport is as far as we’re aware the first major racing team to have produced a free app for the App Store.

It’s stylishly designed but full of substance too, with the quantity of photos available highly impressive and the quality of videos equally so.  You can hear each driver’s thoughts ahead of Hockenheim, as well as catch fun videos of drivers Oliver Jarvis trying his hand at cooking or Alexandre Prémat playing curling over the winter break.

Audi’s promised us the app will be improved over the coming months, so we look forward to them building on what is already a strong first release.  Just search “Audi Sport” in the App Store today to get closer to the Audi racing experience.
