The Euro invasion of Gymkhana GRID reaches its climax on the 28th of this month, as the best European drifters go head to head at Santa Pod Raceway, Northamptonshire with Mr Gymkhana himself, Ken Block.
Joining him will be fellow drift star, Vaughn Gittin Jnr, representing the rear-wheel drive class in his Monster Energy Ford Mustang, while Block will take on the fastest all-wheel drive qualifiers in his legendary Ford Fiesta HFHV (Hybrid Function Hoon Vehicle).
The event will also feature a guest appearance by X-Games gold medallist Liam Doran, and display driving from Terry Grant, Buttsy Butler and Team Japspeed.
But how does the Gymkhana legend practice for such an event?
In Block’s case, he took his car along to the Forumla D drift course at Irwindale Speedway last weekend and drove the wheels off it – literally. Take a look at the video (above) and see what we mean..
You can purchase tickets to the event by calling 01234 782828 or online at Santa Pod’s website.
NOTE: fifteen52 engineered the wheels fitted to Block’s Fiesta to break away as they did in the video, so that more crucial (i.e. expensive) suspension parts remain undamaged in the event of a crash.
