This could well be the most important race weekend of the 2020 British Touring Car Championship season.

With the country descending into lockdown, there are obvious fears that each and every round now might very well be the last. Personally, I don’t think that this will happen. The BTCC is deemed an ‘elite sport’, and this should allow the season to continue unabated, however, it will be deep in the minds of all those taking to the grid today that perhaps more than ever, every single result counts.

As it is, Ash Sutton just needs to keep out of trouble and deliver three solid top five finishes; Colin Turkington needs to beat Sutton in every race. Dan Cammish needs to keep ahead of Tom Ingram and win both of the first two races, whilst Ingram needs to assert the control he showed at Thruxton: And Rory Butcher, the unassuming underdog just needs to do what he’s shown he’s eminently capable of and keep himself firmly at the front of the pack.

We’ve all too often said that this championship is won through consistency; as from today, the game changes. it’s race-on!
