In a world first for a mid-engined sports car, the 458 Spider is equipped with a Ferrari patented fully retractable hard top, but where most hard top convertibles gain significant weight during such a transition, Ferrari's 458 Spider made entirely from aluminium is 25 kg lighter than a traditional folding soft-top weighing in at around 50kg more than the 458 Italia.

BMW has just released UK specific information on its new F10 M5 and there are some rather nice surprises when we dig into the details. Firstly the price, which at £73,040 on-the-road undercuts the X5 M and X6 M by £7,755 and £9,150 respectively, but perhaps more importantly pitches the M5 some £400 below the less powerful 517 bhp Mercedes E63.

It was due to be launched in January 2011, but a video of the new 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK leaked onto YouTube last night before being taken down shortly after. The lengthy promotional film shows the folding-hardtop SLK in detail, highlighting some of its new features including the NECK-PRO head restraint, adaptive lighting and ECO stop/start system.
