Gran Turismo 5 test-drives the future with the Red Bull X1 Prototype

Sony Computer Entertainment today lifted the lid on a fantasy racing car designed using technology and expertise from Red Bull Racing. The X1 Prototype, seen here in Hangar 7 at Salzburg Airport, is the answer to the question ‘What if you designed a racing car where its performance was not restricted by any sporting rules or regulation?'

Sound-clip: 335i Coupe with BMW Performance kit

We've been spending some time this week in BMW's 335i, fitted with the full catalogue of BMW Performance upgrades. Our initial plan was to use it as an ice-breaker for our interview with Lincolnshire racer Jack Harvey - runner-up in this year's Formula BMW Europe Championship - but we decided to hang on to it for a few days to find out whether the BMW Performance range adds a worthwhile boost to the 300 bhp 335i's repertoire.

And the Brabus SV12 R Biturbo 800 probably has more technology and gadgets fitted than most houses too.

Seperated at birth: Porsche’s 911 GT3 Cup and 911 GT3 RS road car

Time for a bit of gratuitous car porn for no other reason than it's Friday evening and sometimes we all need a bit of a lift - in spirits. I make a point of watching as many of Porsche's single-make Cup championships as possible, keeping track of the Carrera Cup GB which runs as a support series to the BTCC and also the Mobil1 Supercup that supports the majority of Formula One races.

We've got some great British Porsche drivers, not least Tim Harvey who won this year's 2010 Carrera Cup GB, but we've also been pretty successful in the premier Mobil1 championship with Sean Edwards, Nick Tandy and last year's Carrera Cup GB champion Tim Bridgman.
