Today's image of the day is one that's perfectly suited to a Friday evening. Last weekend McLaren Automotive opened its first ever showroom in Milan, Italy - the same weekend as the F1 circus visited nearby Monza circuit for the Italian Gran Prix.

I have been sitting on some news about Caterham during the past few weeks, as we waited on some of the moves to play out. And it's been fascinating to watch this minnow of the car industry become such a talking point on the global stage.

Today's Image Of The Day is a personal one for me - I'm well aware that for many Land Rover enthusiasts, September 2011 represents the month when the spirit of their beloved Defender was put to the sword - the DC100 Concept was unveiled with the promise that by 2015 something very close to it would become the new Land Rover Defender.

The collaboration between Mercedes-AMG and Ducati is beginning to bear fruit as the Bologna-based motorcycle company launched its first AMG enhanced model at this week's Frankfurt Motor Show. The Diavel AMG Special Edition is inspired by the unmistakable design of the AMG performance brand, which Ducati hope will imbue their range with a mixture of exclusivity and bahn-storming performance.

I love this image. It's from last weekend's Intercontinental Le Mans Challenge (ILMC) 6-hour race at Silverstone and depicts a meeting of two generations of Le Mans Audis - the current R18 TDI and R8C from 1999.

The New Twingo Renaultsport 133 made its world premiere at Frankfurt yesterday - presented in the signature Renaultsport Liquid Yellow body colour. In addition to its dynamic grille incorporating four lights, the new Twingo Renaultsport 133 features what Renault describe as "..an F1-style front blade in the bumper".

It was all-go at the Frankfurt motor show yesterday as Mercedes-Benz launched their new Mercedes C-Coupé DTM and Audi their A5 DTM. Meanwhile new-entrants BMW were on track at the Lausitzring putting their own 2012 DTM challenger to the test.
