Ariel Motor Co announce the Atom 3.5 with 315bhp supercharged engine
Ariel has announced the latest generation of its exoskeletal sports car, representing a natural evolution on from the current Atom 3. The new Atom 3.5 incorporates several design, detail and power upgrades that Ariel hope will retain its title as one of the fastest and most fun lightweight sports cars that money can buy.

Watch the Porsche 918 Spyder set its 7:14 minute lap around the Nürburgring (w/VIDEO)
Last month Porsche announced that a 918 Spyder prototype turned in a single-lap time of just 7 minutes 14 seconds around the 12.9 mile Nürburgring Nordschliefe circuit. The 784bhp hybrid prototype was fitted with production Michelin road tyres as well as the optional “Weissach†package.

Volvo’s V40 T5 R-Design will cost more than BMW’s M135i
We're big fans of Volvo's V40 – which is a true rival to BMW's 1 Series and Audi's A4 and yet is still an individual’s choice with its own unique qualities. Porsche 911 Carrera S laps the Nürburgring in 7 min 38 seconds (w/VIDEO)
The performance of hyper cars around the Nürburgring, can sometimes be so overwhelming that we lose sight of what's possible with cars which are considerably more affordable.
Recently, Porsche's £650,000+ prototype 918 Spyder set a lap time of 7 minutes 14 seconds around the 12.9 mile Nordschleife, and although an awesomely quick time, it was propelled by a 784bhp hybrid powerplant and the optional “Weissach†performance package.

IOTD: Caterham presses fast-forward with the 275bhp Superlight R600
After the race series for the SP/300.R was canned due to poor sales and a general lack of interest, Caterham chose to think laterally by fitting the 2-litre Ford Duratec power plant in the tried and tested Seven. Welcome to the R600 - like the hugely successful R300, but.. twice as much fun.

Is DRB-Hicom Fiddling While Lotus Burns..?
For any business to function it needs to produce a product or service, sell it to customers, develop new offerings and promote them in order to generate demand. It also needs working capital to pay its suppliers, develop its staff and motivate all involved in its organisation to outperform its competitors. Lotus appears to be doing none of these, and to all intents and purposes is like a patient 'surviving' on life support - not 'living' - because that would involve actually getting up and doing something, but surviving - as in artificially being kept alive.
