Last night Jaguar released a 17 second teaser video, entitled ‘The most luxurious Jaguar ever’. They provide no further information apart from saying it will be ‘unveiled at Beijing 23/04/2012’, but we can see from these glimpses that an XJ saloon provides the basis for what is likely to be a limousine version for Chinese customers.
This being the internet age, we didn’t have to wait long for official pictures to leak out.
The XJ Ultimate, based on the long-wheelbase XJ, focuses mainly on the rear passenger compartment and features two separate, fully-reclining rear seats. Other luxuries include folding aluminium tables, a champagne bar and a refrigerated compartment for up to two bottles.
Under the bonnet customers will be able to choose between the 5.0-litre supercharged petrol engine or 3.0-litre V6 diesel, matched to a softer more cosseting suspension. Price is likely to be north of £120,000 when it goes on sale later in the year.
