Lotus Cars have developed a screensaver that counts down to the launch of its new supercar, due to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in late September. Expected to be ‘more than’ an Esprit replacement, the new model will mark Lotus’ move upmarket to compete with the likes of Ferrari, Aston Martin and Lamborghini.

Entitled “The Future Starts Here”, the screensaver was announced in a suitably cryptic press release:

Time is what we want most, but…what we use worst. William Penn

You can’t stop a ticking clock. But you can make the most of the moment.
Have Lotus made the most of the moment?

In the words of an iconic advert: He waits; that’s what he does. And I tell you what: tick followed tock followed tick followed tock followed tick… Will you wait?

Last month Autocar magazine interviewed Proton and Lotus chairman Datuk Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh, who outlined a radical change of direction for the company, moving away from the ‘lightweight and simple’ ethos founded by Colin Chapman towards “the dawn of a new era”.

With average prices set to rise to between £80,000-£110,000 Lotus’ new supercar is said to be both innovative and considerably more powerful than any previous car produced by the Norfolk based manufacturer.

We’ll have to wait for another few months to find out exactly how ambitious Lotus have been, in the meantime help yourself to a screensaver by clicking on the link below.
