We first mentioned this story back in October 2010 and at the time we could only guess what a Mégane R.S. would look like in France’s law-enforcement blue. Well now we know – wouldn’t this be the perfect mode of transport for a blast along the Route Napoléon?
Renault are supplying 70 of these to France’s national police force, Gendarmerie Nationale, so you know what to look out for if you’re heading down to Le Mans in June.
The Gendarmerie chose the “Chassis Cup” version of the Mégane R.S. so it has the limited-slip differential and 18-inch tyres, but the engine has been adapted to meet the specific needs of the Gendarmerie in terms of acceleration and speed.
Tough job being a traffic cop in France..
