To mark its 75th anniversary, Jaguar has unveiled the C-X75 Concept, a sports coupe showcasing a new design direction for the brand, along with an electric/gas turbine power source generating 769 bhp.

The exotic C-X75 concept, “explores the outer limits of both performance and sustainability,” the company said in a press release.

The car is powered by four 192 bhp electric motors, one in each wheel. The wheel motors give the vehicle an all-wheel drive system, with torque-vectoring controls to distribute power as needed to each wheel.

A “track” driving mode provides additional performance and power – when supplemental power is needed directly to the wheel motors – and to accompany its already plentiful 769 bhp there’s also 1,180 foot-pounds of torque to play with, just in case it wasn’t already clear that C-X75 was a supercar with a capital ‘S’.

The car also has a centre-mounted, 185 bhp gas-turbine engine that can recharge the batteries and help extend the car’s range from 68 miles on all-electric power to a total of 560 miles.

Mike O’Driscoll, Jaguar’s Managing Director, called the C-X75 “an innovative test-bed for the technologies of tomorrow.” He added, “The C-X75 is a tribute to the people who shaped the iconic Jaguars that are revered to this day.”
