After the spec sheet leaked out a couple of weeks ago (see below) on the Teamspeed forums, we’ve now received a batch of official pictures to whet our appetites for the latest – and perhaps greatest Rennsport model from Porsche.
The 911 GT3 RS 4.0 is a special edition model, to be produced in a limited run of just 500 units, and will feature a full roll cage, lightweight headlights and a 90-litre fuel tank. The big news however is its naturally aspirated GT3 RS 4.0-litre engine, which will offer the same amount of power as the standard 911 Turbo (368Kw/500bhp) and around 50 bhp more than the current 3.8-litre GT3 RS.
The GT3 RS 4.0 is likely to become the final 997 variant, before production of the new 998 version of the 911 begins later in the year. The GT3 RS 4.0 will receive new graphics, several exclusive paint options, a newly developed aerodynamic package including that monster rear-wing, a two-tone Alcantara/Leather interior, plus some suspension modifications to take advantage of its lighter weight and higher power output. The price in Germany will be Euro 179,880, around the same as a 911 Turbo S and 20% up on the standard GT3 RS.
Porsche are due to reveal the car in full during May, so look out for more news during the next week.
