Although not quite equivalent to the rolled-up trouser leg or secret handshake of the Freemasons, BMW would like to cultivate a its own exclusive form of identification for the 6,309 members of the 1 Series M Coupé owners family.
So BMW Design has developed a special polo shirt that can only be obtained using the 17-digit chassis number (VIN) of a BMW 1 Series M Coupé. Their goal is to see 1 Series M owners shaking hands when they meet each other – no doubt the rolled-up trouser leg and secret passwords will follow thereafter.
Each BMW 1 M Coupé Owner’s Polo Shirt is made exclusively for the owner, bearing the owner’s name on the left sleeve and an embroidered picture of the car in a choice of three colours – orange, black or white – matching the paint finish that was available on production cars.
Made of a blend of 50% cotton and 50% synthetic fibre, the BMW 1 M Coupé Owner’s Polo shirt is available in orange, black or white according to preference.
Each shirt is produced individually, with delivery taking up to six weeks and it’s not possible to replace or return the shirt – so expect to see (or smell) a few unwashed 1 Series M Coupé owners at BMW festivals next year.
The 1 Series M Coupé Owner’s Polo Shirt costs 89 Euros (£72 approx) – (including VAT and shipping) and can only be ordered via the m-power.com website.
