This is Volkswagen’s special gift to fans attending the annual GTI Treffen gathering in Wörthersee, Austria. It’s powered by a 496bhp turbocharged direct injection 3.0-litre V6 engine and accelerates from 0 to 62mph in 3.9 seconds. And we want one. Badly.
Yesterday they shared details of its performance (very quick) and features (some of them a little over the top), and now they’ve released photos from its appearance today at Wörthersee plus a few exterior renderings.

If you’re anything like us, then you’re squinting and trying to convince yourself that it’s not that far away from being production ready. Sort of.
Well, we can dream can’t we? We’ll share more details with you when they’re released.

Wondering if the new 496bhp VR6 engine is modular? Anyone for a 1000bhp 6.0litre W16 Bentley or baby Bugatti?
It would be good to see another engine platform being available, it gets a bit boring these days when everything is either based off a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol, 2.0-litre turbo diesel or 3.0-litre turbo diesel.
I’d also love to see a ‘baby’ Bugatti, but like Lamborghini, it seems they’ve become more of a trophy brand, with little interest in thinking outside the box.
