British GT has a long history of attracting some of the world’s finest driving talent, and this year, we were treated to the presence of a young man whose reputation grows at every turn of the wheel.

At one stage, Raffaele Marciello looked destined for a fine career in single-seaters (having won the FIA International F3 championship, aligned to Ferrari’s Academy programme), but an inspired move to the AKKA ASP squad in 2017 soon saw him become a leading contender with Mercedes, taking his first title the following year and going on to win the FIA GT World Cup in 2019 and GT World Challenge Europe (Endurance) in both 2022 and 2023.

Still only 28 (and now newly signed to BMW), Marciello had his pick of drives in this country, eventually choosing the opportunity to work with RAM, partnering team owner John Ferguson in a determined title campaign. Two retirements and Ferguson’s struggles to match Loggie’s, Cottingham’s and Leung’s pace didn’t produce the results that had been hoped for, although they did take a win at Snetterton, nevertheless, the fan effect of seeing ‘Lello’ matched against the likes of Jules Gounon, Jonny Adam, Dan Harper and Sandy Mitchell has been immense.

Here he is at Oulton Park where he and Ferguson raced to P2 in Race 2.
