It’s easy to become elitist about automotive magazines until you actually go out and set one up yourself, take it from me, it’s not as easy as it looks and especially when you’re working on a budget that’s a fraction of the mainstream titles.
We have no affiliation with ROAD Magazine apart from knowing them as a good team of guys (and girls!) who deserve to reach a wider audience. What they’ve produced in the past 10 issues has had to fit around their regular paying jobs and funded out of their own pockets. They’ve been supported by a loyal bunch of volunteers who’ve tried to convey the thrill of driving and the lifestyle that we share.
I am as guilty as anyone of not keeping up with their issues, and was surprised how readable the articles are, perfect for a digital magazine.
Three things that stand out for me when I look through their magazines; there’s a nice broad scope of topics beyond that which a conventional car magazine would cover, the photographs are excellent and they routinely express their thanks to manufacturers and friends who’ve provided them with cars and supported their features.
That’s a rare quality in this business, so take a look over the next few months, have a chat with the guys yourself and then make your own minds up.
Well said that guru!
Road is very happy to be linking up with SM and we are very confident you will all enjoy the new format here and on http://www.roadmagazine.co.uk in the new year.
