Mercedes S63 AMG checks in at £119,565

Mercedes-Benz have announced pricing of the new 577bhp S63 AMG and as you’d expect it spells premium with a capital ‘P’.

Starting from £119,565, you can top this up with £7,090 for the AMG high-performance ceramic composite brake system, £5,000 for the AMG Exterior Carbon Package and £2,760 if you wish to de-restrict its top speed to 186mph.

The Drivers Package also includes attendance at an AMG ‘Power and Passion’ event, so that customers can learn how to handle their car on the racetrack.

Mercedes are keen to point out that the new S63 AMG’s price represents a £8,400 saving (in added value) over its predecessor, given that it’s fitted as standard with the Driving Assistance Package, Front Seat Comfort Package, Panoramic sunroof, Keyless Go Package, Burmester Surround Sound System with Six-Disc changer, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and Ambient Lighting.

With 577bhp and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque, there’s nothing ‘quite’ like it on the road.

BMW’s 536bhp 760Li M Sport is priced from £104,370, but achieves only 21.1 mpg and 314 g/km of CO2 emissions, not to mention being slower than the 5.5-litre V8 bi-turbo S63, which accelerates from 0 to 62mph in 4.4 seconds. Merc’s hot-rod limousine also delivers 27.0 mpg and 237 g/km, so you can feel smug about your environmental footprint while leaving the Beemer in your dust.

Audi’s soon-to-be-replaced A8 can offer the 513bhp S8, which seems a bargain at £78,225 while delivering 28.0 mpg and 235 g/km, while Jaguar’s 542bhp and 502lb ft XJR undercuts the Merc at £92,370 while achieving 24.4 mpg and 270 g/km of CO2.

Of course, none of those come close to matching the S63 AMG’s gargantuan 900 Nm of torque.

As standard it’s equipped with 19-inch AMG 10-spoke alloy wheels, with unique AMG sports suspension based on the all new Magic Body Control system. There’s also an AMG sports exhaust system backing up the visual drama hinted at by the AMG body styling and badging.

Mercedes offer the choice of ‘two’ grades of high-performance braking system – both are composite, with the optional system using ceramic discs for greater (i.e. zero) fade resistance.

The S63 AMG is available to order now, with first deliveries arriving in November.
