This is probably the most exciting new F1 track since Singapore, not because we expect great racing but more due to the radical design of the circuit which looks unlike anything else on the calendar. Given that it’s the end of season finale to the 2009 championship, let’s hope the racing lives up to the circuit’s un-conservative looks.

The Hermann Tilke designed circuit is 5.5 km long and was constructed on Yas Island, which is around 30 minutes from Abu Dhabi city centre by road. Dubai is just over an hour away, so unlike some of the newer circuits Yas Marina is easily accessible.

While we’re waiting for the race to begin, there are a few distractions that you might like to explore. Firstly Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina circuit have produced their very own F1 ringtone, perfect for those moments crammed into a commuter train on the way home from work.
