The all-new Type 991 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup will make its debut at next weekend’s opening round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in Catalunya, Barcelona. This is the car that will replace the Type 997 GT3 Cup car which currently competes in the BTCC support series.

To mark the 50th Anniversary of the Porsche 911 and the 150th anniversary of Martini, a debut model will be wrapped in the iconic Martini Racing Stripes and driven by nine-time world rally champion, Sébastien Loeb.

Sébastien Loeb is no stranger to circuit racing, competing in FIA GT racing this year in a McLaren MP4-12C GT3, but it’s the first time he’s turned his hand to Porsche Supercup.

As part of a three-pronged campaign highlighting the illustrious history of Martini Racing, the 39-year-old Frenchman will compete in two rounds of the F1-supporting Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup series, including Catalunya (12th May) and Monte Carlo (26th May).

A second, yet to be named, driver will take the helm of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car for the third round at Martini’s home circuit of Monza, Italy on 8th September.

The Supercup campaign sees the two iconic brands formally re-united for the first time in decades, “Partnering with Porsche once again, during 50 Years of 911, and seeing the new 911 GT3 Cup car adorned with Martini Racing Stripes is a special moment for the brand and Martini Racing enthusiasts alike.” said Arnaud Meysselle, one of Martini’s Global Category Directors.

“From the first day the beloved stripes of Martini Racing decorated a Porsche 906 in 1968, the illustrious pairing has gone on to claim some of motorsport’s most coveted titles – including numerous Le Mans 24 hours titles, during what is now considered to be a classic period of motorsport” said Jonas Krauss, Head of Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup,

“We’re excited to be once again partnering with Martini in its 150 Anniversary year.”
