Tom Walkinshaw manhandles the TWR Jaguar V12 XJS on a qualifying lap at Mount Panorama – just listen to the sound of that V12 engine and Tom’s utter disdain of the really scary parts of the circuit.
Tom will probably be remembered more for the scandals that forced him out of F1, but this is the real measure of the man and his driving was the best exemplar of his passion for motorsport.

whatever happened in the latter years, mention of his name always conjures up treasured memories of the ‘Walkinshaw Jags’, back when I where a lad etc etc, from the ETCC days through to Le Mans.
By bizarre coincidence, I found mysef bored stupid at one point of the Easter weekend so, trawling through Youtube looking for footage of V12 racing Jags being given the berries (you gotta love that sound), I came across this – – http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=GB&hl=en-GB&v=UxJ9ToSWl4Q . Looked interesting, ordered the DVD and have just this minute finished watching it. Cracking footage, commentary, interviews and a real sting in the tail at the end, which also included a remark from T.W. that had me laughing out loud.
Strongly recommended – and no, I’ve no afiliation whatsoever to the vendor, I just really enjoyed the DVD.
