American singer songwriter Lana Del Rey will collaborate with Jaguar in the promotion and launch of the new F-TYPE.
Jaguar’s all-new two-seater sports car will be revealed at the Paris Motor Show on 27th September, then go on sale in early 2013.
Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar said at the announcement, “Singer songwriter, Lana Del Rey will collaborate with Jaguar on the launch of the all-new F-TYPE, a two-seater sports car that is a vivid representation of the vitality of the Jaguar brand.
“The allure of Jaguar is in large part due to its duality – a unique blend of authenticity and modernity, two values that we believe are shared with Lana in her professional achievements.”
Jaguar announced the deal yesterday, which is reportedly worth a six-figure sum, although has yet to release any images of the singer near to the car (the images released with the announcement were of Del Ray in a swimming pool..).
It’s the first time Del Ray (real name – Elizabeth Woolridge Grant) has agreed a sponsorship deal with a car company, although she curiously included the phrase “Bugatti Veyron” in the lyrics of her recent song, ‘National Anthem’.
It’s a surprising partnership, the 26-year old’s music has been noted for its cinematic sound and reference to 50′ and 60’s popular culture, but no doubt Jagaur’s brand team will have something novel and creative in mind.
The F-TYPE will be launched in Paris as a convertible, with a choice of three petrol engines, 335bhp and 375bhp versions of Jaguar’s all-new 3.0-litre supercharged V6, and a new derivative of its existing supercharged 5.0-litre V8 with more than 400bhp.
All variants will drive the rear wheels through an eight-speed transmission and will be equipped with Stop/Start technology to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
In the build-up to its launch, Jaguar has released a series of videos defining what the F-TYPE stands for and introducing some of its most compelling qualities. These include; ‘F-TYPE is Alive’, ‘Future’, ‘Fearless’, ‘Fast’ and a final video (yet to be released).
The team behind the F-TYPE believe they’ve created an exceptional car, and it looks like they’ve now signed up an exceptional voice to help launch it.
