Nissan’s 370Z Nismo seems to teeter on the edge of chav-ness with its aggressive body kit and big wheels, but perhaps painted in a darker colour it might pass the Kristin Scott Thomas test.

It’s the season of Fast & Furious 6, so rather than show Nissan’s launch video we thought it might be a little more fun to show the extended movie trailer – there’s a GT-R in there and a gold 370Z Nismo (on two wheels at 1:44).

The production 370Z Nismo features a 339bhp version of the standard car’s 3.7-litre V6 engine (up 16bhp), while torque increases from 363Nm to 371Nm. Performance is a fraction quicker (a tenth of a second faster to 62mph) but Nissan says you’ll feel the improved responsiveness across the low and mid rev range.

An exclusive Nismo dual exhaust system amplifies the sound of the Z’s 3.7-litre V6 engine, while braking feel is also enhanced by the fitment of high rigidity brake hoses and high performance brake fluid from the R35 GT-R.

A version of the 370Z Nismo is already on sale in North America and Japan, but for Europe a unique specification has been developed to suit both road conditions and the tastes of European driving enthusiasts.

You can see the styling upgrades for yourself, although whether you consider these improvements comes down to personal taste. The front end features a more aggressive design improving airflow under the car, leading to improved stability at higher speeds and through corners, while at the rear there’s a curvy new spoiler that no doubt removes any semblance of a rear-view.

The 370Z Nismo’s suspension has been re-engineered, with the chassis set-up to suit the increased downforce at speed, while 19-inch forged alloy wheels and wider tyres have also been fitted.

Available only as a coupe with a six-speed manual gearbox, the 370Z Nismo will be revealed at next month’s Geneva Motor Show when we’ll also get an idea about its price in the UK.
