Volkswagen stole a march on other car makers at this year’s Super Bowl by launching its promotional ads 1 week early – the resulting void filled by their campaign resulted in more than 35 million online views, plus over 100 million TV views during the event.
With success comes parody and there have been some great ones already, but before we look at them, let’s take another look at the award-winning original..

Marvel Comics – Little Thor
And now, a big name Hollywood studio has joined in with a promotion for Paramount Pictures’s upcoming movie Thor. Entitled ‘Little Thor’, the trailer asks the question, “..what happens when the “mite-iest” of mortals wields Thor’s hammer…?”
The storyboard closely follows the original ad except that the Passat is replaced with an old Rover 75 Tourer (which inexplicably seems to have the interior of a Seat Exeo…) and Thor’s hammer manages to do more than just start the car.
So far Marvel’s Thor version has only claimed 122,000 views, but I suspect it will ramp up many more before the film’s launch on May 6th.
